Privacy Policy

This policy applies to Jikfu iOS Beta 1.0 and the Chinese and English versions of the Jikfu product support and privacy policy pages on this website.

Jikfu is operated by Chan Hung Wai as an individual. For privacy enquiries and support, contact jikfu-support@googlegroups.com.

1. Data you create on your device

Jikfu stores scenarios, text cards, images, categories, tags and preferences locally on your device to help you organise and retrieve your work messages. The main app, shortcut keyboard and share extension use an App Group to share the data they need on the same device. This local sharing is not cross-device cloud synchronisation.

This Beta does not provide live Google Drive or CloudKit synchronisation or subscription purchases. This does not mean that every feature operates without a network connection: Apple services, sharing destinations you choose, TestFlight and support services may involve network access. We will update this policy if we introduce features that process data differently.

2. Clipboard, keyboard and sharing

When you actively use the clipboard import or sharing features, Jikfu reads and processes the text, URLs or images you choose to provide to the app. Reading clipboard content through the keyboard involves the system’s “Allow Full Access” permission. Granting this permission does not mean that Jikfu sends all your input or clipboard content over the network.

Items awaiting processing may remain locally while you confirm them or retry. If a card is absent from the main library and there is no record of a successful import, it will not be added again automatically. Original items whose handover has not been completed remain available.

After inserting text into another app, you must still check the content and recipient yourself before deciding whether to send it. The receiving app’s own privacy policy governs how it handles text and attachments.

3. Images and Apple Translation

When you select images using the system PhotosPicker, Jikfu processes the media you select rather than requesting access to your entire photo library. Selected images may retain their original metadata. Jikfu does not promise that all EXIF, location or other accompanying data has been removed.

When you actively use translation, the selected text is processed by Apple’s Translation framework. Processing depends on Apple services and system settings; we cannot guarantee that all translation takes place offline. Please see Apple’s Privacy Policy.

4. Exports, trash and other copies

An exported file may contain your entire card library and images. If you choose to save or share it with another app, cloud storage or a third-party service, that service processes the data under its own policy. You are responsible for managing your exported copies.

Items in the trash are retained for seven days and cleaned up by the app after that period. Removal is not guaranteed to occur at the exact moment the period expires. Snapshots, items awaiting processing, shared data, backups and files you have already exported may contain separate copies. Deleting a card does not mean that every copy has been permanently deleted. To remove other copies, check where they are stored as well.

5. TestFlight testing data

When you test the Beta through TestFlight, Apple automatically collects crash logs and usage information and shares them with the app provider. You cannot opt out of this collection. The data may include device and system information, names or email addresses. What is visible may differ depending on whether testers join through email invitations, public links or other methods. Reports you submit may also include feedback and screenshots.

The operator uses data provided by Apple to diagnose problems and improve Jikfu and does not pass it on to third parties. Testing diagnostics and reports separately retained by the operator are kept only for as long as necessary for debugging or support, with regular reviews of whether they are still needed.

Please reproduce problems using fictional content. Do not include customer data, private conversations, passwords or verification codes in reports or screenshots. For how Apple processes and retains this data, see TestFlight & Privacy. Apple’s retention arrangements are separate from the support record arrangements in this policy.

6. Data you provide when contacting support

You may voluntarily provide your contact email address, a description of the problem, device model, operating system and Jikfu versions, steps to reproduce the issue, and optional redacted screenshots or attachments by email. Only the operator uses this data to reply to, follow up on and handle support enquiries. Do not send sensitive customer data, complete private conversations, your entire card library, passwords or verification codes.

Support uses a non-public Google Groups mailbox. Google processes the relevant data to provide email and group services, which may involve processing outside your location. We do not make the support group or its conversations public. For Google’s handling of data, see Google’s Privacy Policy.

General support emails are deleted within 90 days after the issue is closed. Screenshots and attachments are deleted within 14 days after they are no longer needed. If retention is required by law or evidence is needed for an unresolved dispute, only the necessary data is retained, for only as long as necessary. Service providers’ backups or other technical copies may not be removed on the same day.

7. Requests to access, correct or delete data

To request access to, correction of or deletion of relevant data held by the operator, email jikfu-support@googlegroups.com. Describe your request and provide enough information to locate the enquiry. We may need to verify your identity where necessary, but we do not require your entire card library. Requests are handled in accordance with applicable law.

You will generally need to manage local cards and copies you have exported yourself on your device or wherever you saved them. You may also need to contact other platforms about data they hold.

8. These four website pages

The Chinese and English versions of the Jikfu product support and privacy policy pages do not include Google Analytics, third-party fonts or scripts, and do not set cookies. However, the website server maintains access and error logs, which may record information about connections, requests and errors for website maintenance and security. Logs are retained for as long as needed for those purposes.

This statement applies only to these four pages. Other pages on Henry Chan’s personal website may use different tools and have their own website privacy information. If you follow an external link, that website’s policy also applies.

9. Policy updates

If our data processing changes, we will publish a new version and effective date on this page. You can send privacy enquiries to the support mailbox above.
